There are 17 years of experience that the team of Luís Lopes and João Geirinhas, former directors of the Revista de Vinhos and now directors and co-owners of Grandes Escolhas, have the largest wine event in the country. A much-anticipated event that changes its name, date and venue this year. The 'Great Choices - Wines & Flavors' will take place from 27 to 30 October 2017 (Friday to Monday), in Hall 4 of FIL - Lisbon International Fair, in Parque das Nações, where the largest transport interface is an asset for professionals, enophiles and fans of regional food that crosses Portugal from lés-a-lés. It is a case to say that the more than 6,000 m2 chosen will provide a 'Wines & Flavors' experience to the Great!
'Great Choices' contest
To start this wine tasting, there is a talk in the 'Grandes Escolhas' contest, which will feature a panel of judges composed of journalists, sommeliers, shopkeepers and restaurateurs whose purpose is to choose the best wines from the fair.
The ex-libris of 'Great Choices' is the so-called 'Great Evidence', a set of 'masterclasses' for true connoisseurs, guided by prestigious critics or by reference producers, which are subject to registration (see the advertising page in this issue). In the list of names are confirmed Alvaro de Castro, the largest name in the Dão region; Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno, from Quinta das Bágeiras, exponent of the classic Bairrada; João Portugal Ramos, recognized winemaker and wine producer in several regions of the country; António Agrellos, creator of the great Porto and Douro of Quinta do Noval; Anselmo Mendes, oenologist and producer, the "master of the Alvarinho" of Monção and Melgaço; David Guimaraens, director of oenology at Taylor's and other brands of The Fladgate Partnership; Domingos Soares Franco, administrator and winemaker of José Maria da Fonseca, where great Moscatel de Setúbal are born; as well as the Deutz champagne, a bicentennial winery in the emblematic Champagne region of France. One of the highlights will undoubtedly be the event titled "The Choices Dirceu Vianna and Luís Lopes", where these specialists will present a set of dream wines.
